We designed, built and commissioned a carton storage system for our partner at Bangkok Airport.
Transport unit of the automated transport & storage system
Transport units – box pallets with the following outer dimensions:
- Width: 1160 mm,
- Depth: 1360 mm,
- Height: 1200 mm.
The maximum permissible load, including the weight of the box, is 1,000 kg.
VRS capacity
The warehouse contains 1,072 box spaces. It consists of one high-bay warehouse, with one aisle and two double-depth rack lifts. The rack structure has 9 stacking levels in height and 30 in length.
The two rack lifts operate along the main aisle. This results in the following restrictions on movement:
- Crane 1 can operate between locations 1 and 23
- Crane 2 can operate between locations 8 and 30
Output and input line
Each corridor is equipped with 2 entry and exit conveyor lines. The outbound conveyor line can accommodate 3 pallets and is equipped with a LED display, mounted at the station. The LED display is used to show the status of the location and displays information about the first box waiting to be collected.
Rack lift
There are 2 rack lifts operating in one enclosed corridor.
The calculation of cycle times was based on the assumption that each lift uses half of the corridor, whereas entry and exit points are positioned on the same conveyors. In this case, the lift can achieve 30.5 double cycles per hour.
